Whoa a revolution! Total revolution. For people who bring their giant computers all to one spot and give the party that ensues a name: LAN. Local Area Networks with 1,000 cables no more! Here it is in one machine. Each console can handle up to 16 players. This machine, the “Iris,” is a computer, router, switch, and projector. And! And! And! it costs around the price of a single home computer. Now with updates from the man himself!

There’s a main hub which is the computer and the charging station for the projector. The projector is able to project to 4 screens simultaneously. It sticks to basically any surface using an “advanced gecko dry adhesive material” just like spiderman probably. The controllers for the system are gloves. These glovely controllers use accelerometers in the tips of the fingers and a gyroscope at the back of the hand to calculate the position of the gloves in relation to one another and to the screen.

It’s just like those gloves they used to have for the “virtual reality” games they’d have at the state fair! Those were terrible. These seem better, somehow.

The materials are: Body: Anodized White Aluminum (Polished and Anodized on top, brushed and anodized on bottom), Pod Glass: Water-white, low iron, ultra clear glass, anti-glare and anti-reflective coating on both sides, Trim/Grip/Top Button Pad: Heat resistant silicone rubber (clear next to pad – for light to show through, gray otherwise).

I shall suggest interchangeable controller systems right this moment. It was fantastic to see the multiple functionalities of the Nintendo Wii controller, I wonder how the gloves might hold up against it. The downfall of the VR system gloves of the past were the fact that when you swiped a sword or pressed a trigger, your finger, of course, felt no pressure, thus a strange situation for you the gamer.

Also how will I play Tony Hawk without directional buttons?! Oh my goodness this needs to be rectified instantly.

1. The projection pod has 4 separate projectors inside of it. Each of them projecting a separate image, each in 4 directions, giving you a a total of 4 separate and unique images being projected.

2. ‘Gecko dry adhesive’ is a real synthetic material that has been developed by chemist researchers in collaboration with robotics researchers at Berkley.

3. Lastly, that these glove controllers will have input AND an output so that there would be tactile feel to the gloves when used as a sword or a gun you get the feeling along with the visuals.

The Street Cleaner concept design demonstrates a light but highly efficient vehicle that can be used for keeping the streets cleaner than ever. The outlook of this single seater is quite identical of a golf car except the closed hood. The both way rear view mirrors will give a clear look of the passing vehicles around which will lead the cleaner to safer operation. There are two compartments, smaller one in the front and a bigger one in the back. These compartments can be used to store other necessary tools. Along with the windshield and side doors made of glasses, the driver will have complete comfort during a hot or a rainy day.

Really Smart eh? Can you recall all your recipes by heart; tell me exactly how many calories are there in the dish that you are preparing; the amount of protein, cholesterol in it; are the ingredients fresh enough? NO!! NO!! You’re not a SMART Chef then. Actually you never can be, coz then you’d be this computer with an intelligent cutting board and integrated scale. The wise guy here can connect with local farmers and farmer’s markets to help you procure the seasonal produce. It can even help you share recipes, formulate diet plans etc. The unit is made up of a bamboo surfaced cutting board element containing the SmartChef’s computing and food scanning hardware, while a portable touch-screen tablet provides a kitchen-safe interface that can travel throughout the kitchen and home.

Technology has invaded our kitchens and smart refrigerators and ovens are a proof of it. Envisioning a smart cutting board is not too far fetched, it’s just the question of us accepting and getting used to it. I know there are several issues that need to be addressed, like juices that come out of the veggies that we cut and how will an electronic board tackle that. With such similar issues resolved, I’m sure some Smart company will see the potential and come up with the apt board.

IDAT stands for Instant Data Analysis and Transfer, is a specially designed product having hospital’s context in mind. IDAT aims to develop and support a simple but strong interface by optimizing the quality of data circulation and communication. Therefore, IDAT has two major modules and an external charger.

The first module is for general use and allows smooth communication between workers. It includes embedding wireless technology via Bluetooth, a warning light, a vibrator motor and the key function buttons. IDAT shows warning lights along with vibration when the noise pollution levels of a hospital goes over a certain limit and thus increasing workers and patient’s quality of environment. The second module incorporates the log-in system and data visualization technology.

IDAT provides two types of information, data access and communication. Every worker will have access to the module/communicating system, but the inner data system is guarded by finger print security and only authorized medical personnel are allowed to access. However, it is necessary to keep the data module always connected with the communication module as it works only when provided by the communicator technology.

Another innovative characteristic of IDAT is the Lens Projector. This function designs a new shape of visualizing data and allows multiple solutions. The external charger module completes the IDAT project which can charge both the access management and modules.

Mark I is a four wheel drive four-seater concept car with a force-field propulsion engine powered by small and affordable civilian version generators. The organic shape of the car reflects simple design and multifunctional use. The aerodynamic and lightweight body makes is faster while its uprightness remains uncompromised. The designer has utilized special composite materials for this car that has made it totally armored or bulletproof. The metal look body of this car actually can be turned one or both way transparent. Forced-field shock absorbers of this car have paired to thrust engine generators and the trail’s color temperature indicates the current speed and power ratio of this moving car. Escape pods are nothing new to our collective consciousness. Hollywood writers have used this concept to save presidents from crashing planes to landing R2-D2 and C-3PO on Tatooine. Now designer Alp Germaner (coolest name today) has dreamt up an escape pod that may not take you off planet but will certainly take you off road like never before. The “Peugeot Capsule” is a one person, off-road, electric vehicle inspired by the KLR 650 motorcycle. Complete with integrated GPS, LCD screens that double as rear-view mirrors, full time internet connectivity (for jungle porn of course) and comes with enough luggage space to make a weekend of it. Master Chief not included.

Renault Samsung Motors (RSM) has exposed their futuristic eMX car concept. eMX stands for eco Motoring eXperience, which is based on the platform of Renault Mégane and is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine along with some other solutions to improve the fuel efficiency. The main feature of the design includes detailed soft curves and graphics which is inspired by the nature and are intended at expressing an eco-friendly sense and cutting-edge technology. The organic and smooth curves of this concept car explores a new design technology that may adopt the company’s other small cars in future.

Designer Tommaso Gecchelin isn’t oblivious to all the rumors surrounding a netbook or tablet-like PC made by our favorite fruit manufacturer. We try not to indulge in rumors here at YD but sometimes they do provide fuel for inspiration, such is the case with this MacBook Touch.

Gecchelin reasons if Apple were to go small, flexibility may be more important than hard rigidness – a trend current Apple laptops buck because they’re in favor of unibody construction. Flexible OLED technology may be the key because it can provide the rich color and resolution density needed for a smaller screen without being a power hog and resists damage by its malleable nature. The thinnest screens now are barely 8mm thick and can fold like a piece of paper.

The core of this concept is a technology he calls iSpine. Like the spine of a book, the tech avoid excessive compression on the screen, yet allows the laptop to sit in multiple viewing positions. Go from a normal laptop with screen and touchscreen board – to a large widescreen canvas for drawing, presentation or movie watching. To keep everything minimal, ports like power, the mini display, and additional USB are externalized on a “Magic Dock” to keep most of the laptop slim and clean of an array of holes and plugs.

I’m a veteran when it comes to traveling with kids and I know the nightmarish times I went through every time I ventured out. Cranky, jet lagged babies + luggage management is horrid combo. Try pushing a buggy and pulling your trolley bag at the same time! Dreadful! Good folks at Castiglione Morelli have an ingenious idea with their Samsonite Convertible Trolley Stroller Bag. A specialized compartment holds in a folded fabric, which when pulled out, stretches over the pull-out metallic frame; thus resulting in a child seat. Very Convenient.

Concepts and Apple don’t go hand in hand, however that hasn’t deterred designers from conjuring up iterations to challenge the stalwart. The latest challenge is aimed at disturbing the iPhone mania on three simple grounds; an appealing façade, discreet buttons and ample screen. The “Sony Black Tribute” that we see here, woos you with its ultra-wide screen and hot looks. Finished in aluminum with a satin touch; this phone scores well in the looks department. Unfortunately there are no tech-specs (apart from 3.2 mp cam) that we can boast about.

With challenging concept designs like the Intel MID (heavy-duty tech specs) and this Sony Black Tribute (gorgeous looks) popping up every now and then, there is every bit chance that we see Apple hitting us square in the face this summer, with a bombastic piece that is a mish-mash of such designs!
